Perry rips Obama’s Space plan at speedway news conference

Criticizing the president’s space proposal during a news conference Saturday morning at Texas Motor Speedway, Gov. Rick Perry accused Barack Obama of purposely neglecting Texas.
“For a president who talks about hope, who talks about innovation, this is going the opposite direction,” Perry said. “This is basically telling the people of Houston, Texas, and the Johnson Space Center: ‘We don’t need you. We don’t care and you’re discardable. You’re disposable.’
“It was very disconcerting for me to see the president at Kennedy Space Center making the announcement about they’re going to increase some jobs there. Not one word spoken about the Johnson Space Center. The message there was: ‘You’re from Texas. We don’t care about you.’ I tell people this president has put a target on Texas’ back.”
