Reader poll: Kay Bailey Hutchison the favorite for governor

Corrie_WinnerAustin Business Journal
If the race for Texas governor were held today, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison might just take the prize.

An unscientific online poll of Austin Business Journal readers shows the Republican senator with 36 percent of the vote, compared with incumbent Gov. Rick Perry’s 27 percent. Perry, Hutchison and any other Republican who enters the race will face off for the Republican nomination.

The other favorite, among poll respondents, is recurring candidate and Austin area resident Kinky Friedman who garnered 20 percent of the vote. North Texas Democrats Tom Schieffer and Felix Alvarado took 5 percent and 3 percent of the vote, respectively.

Asked to comment on who else they would like to see enter the race, several respondents named Dallas Republican Debra Medina, who is set to formally announce her bid on Sept. 12.

We urge all Independents, Democrats and Hispanics to vote for Kay Bailey Hutchsion in the PRIMARY, We have to get rid of toll road Perry. Lets make history and end it for Perry in the primary. Then vote for the candidate of choice in the general election.
