Hutchison urges Texas GOP to open doors wider

In discussing her candidacy for governor, Kay Bailey Hutchison has issued a chilling warning to her fellow Republicans, one that resonates with many Dallas-area GOP leaders.

“For the last decade, the Republican Party in Texas has been shrinking,” she said recently. “We’re losing elections we used to win easily.

“As Republicans, we can continue down the road of shrinking majorities. Or we can inspire, unite and grow our party.”

So as Hutchison exhorts her fellow Republicans to open the party’s door wider and focus on issues she says are relevant to typical Texans, the Dallas County GOP is using a similar strategy to return to winning countywide elections.

Here, perhaps more than any place in Texas, Republicans have watched as one the party’s most critical strongholds has become the symbol of the Democratic resurgence in Texas.

    We urge all Independents, Democrats and Hispanics to vote for Kay Bailey Hutchsion in the PRIMARY, We have to get rid of toll road Perry. Lets make history and end it for Perry in the primary. Then vote for the candidate of choice in the general election.
